2014 LE VIGNE DI ELI, ETNA BIANCO It is now obvious that I am obsessed with the Sicilian active volcano, Etna! The wines are stylish, approachable and have a sense of place! This little gem, coming from the Marc de Grazia portfolio, is from the eastern slopes of Mt. Etna and is 100% Carricante; an indigenous white grape that seems like the love child of Viognier and Chablis! Its huge honeyed notes, white peach and yellow apple flavors are buoyed by mineral, stone and smoked herbal notes. This is a perfect wine for hearty seafood dishes and will envelope lovingly our Tonnarelli Nero, a squid ink pasta with crab meat, an uni butter and jalapeno. | 46 btl.
2014 TENUTA DELLE TERRE NERE As I said, I have an obsession! This time we are on the north slope of Mt. Etna and the grapes harvested for this Rosato are from the young vines of Nerello Mascalese in some of the greatest Crus (vineyards) in the appellation. Lean and mean, this wine is chock full of tart cherries, watermelon and fresh lemon zest. Throw in some rosemary, lavender and smokey earth, and you have one of the best rosatos you have ever tasted. This wine is meant for cured meats and hearty seafood such as our Swordfish Saltimbocca. | 44. btl.
2010 LAMOLE DI LAMOLE, CHIANTI CLASSICO, GRAN SELEZIONE, VIGNETO DI CAMPOLUNGO Lamole di Lamole is in the famed village, Greve, in Chianti Classico. The Campolungo vineyard was planted in 1945 with a bevy of Sangiovese clones and Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows its age and pedigree with delineated yet intense flavors of pure blackberries, black cherries, cedar and violets, and framed judiciously with the flavors of oak: nutmeg, cinnamon and chocolate. This beast demands richer meats and pastas and is a superstar with our Dry Aged Beef Agnolotti! | 64 btl.
